A collector is not simply someone who owns many things. A collector is someone who recognizes difference: between decoration and craft, between a passing trend and an enduring form, and between sheer size and the truly exceptional color or character of a natural stone.
To collect Korean heritage jewelry is to gather different histories, techniques, and symbols. A phoenix binyeo contains royal iconography and the time of a silver master. A pair of jade ssanggarakji brings together the culture of marriage and the geological time of the stone. A norigae unites natural material, metalwork, knots, and silk tassels—the knowledge of several hands within one object.
